What does a deaf body represent in the BDSM power exchange? There's no denying that a deaf submissive may seem especially helpless, whether or not sensory deprivation is supposed to be part of the scene. Yet, there are also ways to draw power from deafness, whether expressed through the over-the-top dominatrix ("Want another stroke of the cane, you worm? I can't hear you crying!"), or through the taboo fetishization of disabled bodies, or though the high value placed on verbal and nonverbal communication during a scene. Deaf Dominants face other limitation and of course must be acutely aware of the body language of any sub in their care. Inabilty to hear a safe word mght be disasterous therfore other ways need to be found to express a verbal command, example a hankie in the hand, waved, dropped is enough to signal safe word called so that a deaf Dom would know when to stop. There are ways you just need to think carefully about your own issues and work out the best way to proceed for each individual.
